New photos from the Riverwalk site show the project taking shape.
Riverwalk is a compact "pocket neighborhood" of 13 cottages, featuring 10 newly constructed homes and 3 historic rehabilitations in Concord, MA. This community of Net Zero possible homes was carefully designed by DPA with systems that will enable energy-conscious residents to have all of their daily energy needs met by renewable, on-site solar collection.
Half of this unique 3.7 acre site will be preserved open space with community gardens, shared green space, a community pavilion and access to the nearby river and nature trails.
DPA-designed Sandywoods Farm is the first community in RI to win a fruit tree orchard from the Communities Take Root program offered by Edy's Fruit Bar's. The program, now in its second year plants fresh fruit orchards in communities across the United States. Sandywoods Farm is one of 20 organizations nationwide that will receive an orchard this year. Selection was based on receiving the most number of online votes from supporters.
Riverwalk had been named "Plan of the Month" by New Urban News.
Concord Riverwalk is a compact "pocket neighborhood" of 13 cottages, featuring ten newly constructed homes and three historic rehabilitations. This community of Net Zero possible homes has been carefully designed with details and systems that will enable energy-conscious residents to have all of their daily energy needs met by renewable, on-site solar collection. While the project exceeds the requirements of most "green" rating systems, this technical sophistication is seemlessly combined with traditional building forms in a way that is entirely sympathetic with the surrounding community.

The Concord Riverwalk is a compact pocket neighborhood of 13 cottages. The net zero possible homes will be so efficient that it is possible that for energy-conscious residents, all of their daily energy needs could be met by renewable, on site solar collection and photovoltaics. The homes have been arranged to favor the pedestrian and create a common green space. By doing so, the design will encourage a sense of community and the accidental interactions which do so much to foster it.
The Cottages on Greene, a new pocket neighborhood in East Greenwich, broke ground in mid December. The 15 unit cottage court includes rain gardens, public green spaces and community gardening.
Nestled in the Historic Hill and Harbor District of East Greenwich, 15 units of mixed-income condominiums have been organized into a compact cottage court development in a variety of building type on a vacant lot.
Small, efficient and well detailed, this development, replete with rain gardens to infiltrate storm water runoff and community gardens to grow food for it's residents, will be a model of best practices in sustainable building.
